About the Event

The ASSET Scholars Club is envisioned as a community of bright and curious learners, passionate about deep and meaningful learning, and expanding their horizons beyond the formal curriculum. The club will have regular sessions (online and in-person) conducted by experts from diverse professional fields. We also plan to set up a platform for asynchronous interaction with experts and peers, subject to the level of interest in this.

Learning science in school generally focuses on ‘what we know’ but less on ‘how we came to know’ something. For example, how did we come to know that the earth goes around the sun? Walk down the path of history along with Sukanya in this session to explore the progression of ideas and evidence from the ancient Greeks to Newton, which culminated in the formulation of the laws of motion.

Sukanya sees the world as an endless wonder, a world where children are excited and curious about learning science. She was the founder director of Curiouscity Science Education with the mission to enable children to look at science as a special way of viewing the world. She has also been a visiting scientist at the Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore.

She has M.Sc., M.Phil. degrees from the University of Delhi and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland College Park.
